America’s leaders finally managed to do something right for once—they passed a bill to make daylight savings time permanent. For decades, this country has been stuck in a cycle of pointless clock changing, twice a year, like a herd of confused sheep led by a government that can’t even tell time. Liberals and bureaucrats have always found a way to complicate even the simplest things, and the old system was proof of that. Now, after years of dragging their feet and listening to so-called “experts” whine about “circadian rhythms,” Congress just hit the snooze button on their incompetence and did what should have been done generations ago.
The fact that it took until now to end this ridiculous ritual just shows how far the political class is from real American life. Ask any working family: nobody wants to stumble around in pitch darkness, mess up their sleep, and deal with cranky kids and missed appointments, all because a handful of elites in Washington say so. This was a tradition built for a different world—a world before smartphones, before the bureaucratic nanny state, and before the ruling class tried to control every hour of your day.
Of course, there were always voices on the left whining about “global coordination” and “international harmony.” That’s code for bowing down to globalist interests and putting American families last. Who actually benefits from shuffling the clocks twice a year? Big business, coastal elites, and out-of-touch technocrats in Brussels—certainly not the truck driver in Ohio or the nurse in Kansas trying to get an extra hour of rest. They don’t care about your health or sanity; they care about lining their pockets while Americans stumble around in a fog twice every year.
It’s honestly embarrassing that the world’s greatest nation waited this long to ditch a broken system. This is the same government that can’t secure the border, can’t balance a budget, and can’t keep crime off our streets. Yet they have no problem micromanaging ordinary Americans’ mornings every March and November. If these politicians put half as much energy into protecting American jobs and values as they do into clock-changing chaos, the country would be in much better shape.
At least someone woke up and smelled the coffee. Permanent daylight savings means brighter evenings, safer commutes, and government finally getting out of the way—if only for one hour a year. Maybe it’s a sign that things are changing for the better. Or maybe it’s just another example of how long it takes Washington to catch up with the common sense the rest of us have had all along.
