The liberal circus in Maine politics just pulled another disappearing act, and it’s no surprise to anyone who’s paying attention. Graham Platner, the Democrat with the disgraceful “Nazi tattoo” fiasco, has finally bowed out of the race against Susan Collins. It took long enough. After everything that’s come out about him, you’d think the left would want to wash their hands, yet the reality is they’ll still defend their own until the bitter end—just as long as there’s a “D” after their name.
This episode is just another glaring example of the double standards that rule the Democrat Party. If a Republican candidate had even half the baggage of Platner, the media and his own party would have run him out of town with torches and pitchforks. But when a Democrat gets caught up in scandal, the establishment tries to sweep it under the rug. Apparently, hypocrisy is just business as usual for the left.
Let’s not kid ourselves. The Democrats in Maine, and across the country, have lost any shred of credibility when they talk about “values” or “decency.” They put their own self-interests and globalist priorities over what’s good for real Americans. The only “virtue” they know is virtue-signaling, and it’s all about appearance—never substance.
Susan Collins has her flaws, but at least she doesn’t insult the intelligence of Maine voters with the kind of shameless behavior we see from the Democrats. When a Democrat candidate can sport a Nazi tattoo and still get party support, what does that say about their so-called moral leadership? The Democrats love to lecture everyone about “inclusivity” and “tolerance,” but apparently, that ends whenever it becomes politically inconvenient.
The left’s only real skill is dodging accountability. Maybe next time, instead of blaming everyone else and hiding behind empty slogans, they’ll actually clean house. But don’t bet on it. Why would they bother, when the only card they care about is that shiny “D”?
