The Third Circuit Court of Appeals just did something that should have happened years ago—they struck down New Jersey’s so-called “assault weapons” ban and those ridiculous limits on magazine capacity. Liberals in Trenton tried to shred the Second Amendment with a broad, unconstitutional attack on law-abiding gun owners. But this time, the Constitution fought back—and won.
Politicians on the left always say these arbitrary bans keep people safe. What they refuse to admit is obvious: criminals don’t follow the law, and these bans only hurt responsible Americans. For years, New Jersey forced its citizens to either break the law or leave themselves defenseless. Did these restrictions stop criminals or do anything but kneecap honest folks? Not a chance.
The court had the common sense to recognize that the firearms and magazines targeted by New Jersey’s anti-gun agenda are everywhere in America—they’re the tools millions use to protect their families and homes. The Founders didn’t write the Second Amendment for show. They meant for Americans to be able to defend themselves, not rely on a government that can’t even keep cities safe now.
Let’s not pretend: this wasn’t about “safety.” It’s about power and control. Leftist elites want everyday citizens powerless, especially when it comes to protecting their own families. They dream of a world where only the government and their armed agents have access to self-defense. They always claim to be the party of compassion, but their policies leave Americans at the mercy of criminals and politicians alike.
Those pushing for more gun control forget—or willfully ignore—that self-defense is a basic American right. Taking away magazines and rifles doesn’t make us safer; it just tells law-abiding folks their lives don’t matter as much as a liberal talking point. Now, with this court ruling, New Jersey’s working families get some of their rights back. Maybe next time, the left will try actually enforcing the laws we already have instead of going after the innocent.
When will liberals get it through their heads? The Constitution isn’t up for negotiation. Americans aren’t going to give up their rights because of some anti-gun fantasy cooked up in a blue state backroom. If the left wants to take away freedom, they’ll have a long fight ahead—from the courts and from the people. When the dust settles, the Second Amendment will still be standing.
