How liberal red tape is destroying California housing while Congress looks the other way

Congress just doesn’t get it. Liberals in Washington love to pat themselves on the back for their so-called solutions to California’s housing mess. But every time they roll out a new law or grant program, things just get worse. Throwing more HUD money at the problem won’t put a roof over anyone’s head. Dreaming up rules about apartment stairs isn’t going to fix homelessness. Everyone can see it—except the clueless politicians writing these bills.

Here’s the ugly truth: California is drowning in red tape, all thanks to the left. It isn’t a lack of government spending making houses unaffordable. The real villains are the endless environmental rules and lawsuits—like NEPA, the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act. Liberals celebrate these as “progress,” but what are they really doing? Blocking new homes, driving up costs, and smashing the American dream.

And don’t forget California’s infamous CEQA. This is the weapon environmentalists and anti-growth activists use to stop anyone from building. You want a new apartment complex, or even just a few single-family homes? Get ready to fight years of lawsuits. Regular folks just want a place to live, but liberal bureaucrats seem more interested in protecting weeds and snails than helping families.

These so-called “reforms” coming out of Congress are nothing but window-dressing. Democrats are happy to talk about fixing housing—so long as they don’t have to stand up to their activist base or globalist donors. Meanwhile, hardworking Californians pay the price. Families leave for Texas and Florida because the left would rather grandstand about the climate than build a future for American citizens.

People are fed up. If liberals really cared about fixing housing, they’d cut the red tape and let Americans build and own homes without begging for permission. Until that happens, nothing will change—except more Californians fleeing their own state. So why does Congress keep propping up this disaster? Maybe they’re just too insulated to care.
