When it comes to our government’s “buy American” promises, the left loves to talk a big game. But behind closed doors, bureaucrats just keep handing contracts to programs that could be shipping taxpayer cash — and American jobs — straight to China. Take the mess with AbilityOne, a federal program that’s supposed to help the blind and severely disabled find real jobs instead of sitting on the sidelines. Sounds noble, right? Yet now, General Services Administration (GSA) officials are scrambling to check if the products AbilityOne is selling to government agencies are actually made in America — or being sneaked in from China.
Only in Joe Biden’s America does a project meant to lift up our most vulnerable citizens turn into another front for shady foreign goods. AbilityOne’s mission was clear: help disabled Americans build dignified careers and stand tall. Instead, thanks to government bungling and liberal indifference, gear that’s slapped together in communist sweatshops could be funneling in, disguised as “made in the USA.” Meanwhile, millions of our own people remain unemployed or underemployed, waiting for a chance that’s being shipped across the Pacific.
Are the so-called compassionate liberals sounding the alarm? Of course not. For the ruling class, it’s easier to virtue signal about “equity” and “inclusion” than to actually protect the interests of American workers. They love throwing cash at big government projects, but when it comes to enforcing basic rules about the origin of products, their silence screams. Our own tax dollars are likely lining the pockets of globalist companies who couldn’t care less about our disabled citizens or our national security.
It’s simple. If the GSA and other agencies can’t be bothered to keep Chinese-made products out of our government supply chain, then what does “America First” really mean to them? Judging by the mess they’ve made, not much. The Biden administration would rather keep up appearances than admit that their rubber-stamp system is wide open to foreign interests. They talk the talk, but they can’t even walk the walk on something as basic as buying American.
It’s time for leaders with backbone — not the spineless pencil-pushers in DC. Americans deserve better than bureaucratic incompetence and globalist betrayal. The next time liberals lecture us about fairness and opportunity, remind them who’s really giving away our jobs and our pride.
