New York’s kids can barely read, and it’s not an accident. The latest numbers out of the so-called “Empire State” are shocking: most third- through fifth-graders in New York public schools just failed their English Language Arts exams. That’s right—the majority can’t even pass the most basic reading test. While left-wing bureaucrats make speeches, real kids fall further behind.
This is what happens when radical ideologues decide the classroom is their political playground. The liberal school boards, the activist superintendents, and their union bosses would rather push social engineering and gender lessons than simply teach reading and writing. Of course the system’s collapsing, because it’s designed for Twitter applause, not for real results. When you make pronouns a higher priority than phonics, you get generations of children who can’t read a dinner menu.
Meanwhile, the globalist elite sends their own kids to private academies, safely away from the disaster zones they’ve created. They don’t care if little Johnny in Brooklyn can’t read, because their own families are shielded while the rest of us suffer. Parents watch their taxes disappear into the pockets of these education overlords, yet see nothing in return but failure and excuses.
The hypocrisy is jaw-dropping. Liberal politicians weep crocodile tears for “the children” every campaign season, yet refuse to hold anyone accountable for the mess in our schools. Ask a Democrat why New York’s kids can’t read, and they’ll blame everything under the sun—racism, poverty, the weather—but never their own backwards policies. Instead of fixing reading scores, they want more money and more control.
Who will stand up for these children? Not the woke establishment, not the teachers’ unions, and certainly not the politicians who created this mess. New York’s education crisis is a warning for all Americans: as long as leftist incompetence runs wild, our kids don’t stand a chance. When will we say enough is enough?
