It’s official: the radical left in New York City has finally gone off the rails. Instead of protecting innocent store owners and hard-working citizens, Socialist lawmakers are now trying to give criminals a free pass. Their latest stunt? Arguing that people should be able to steal if it’s for a so-called “biological need.” In other words, if you say you need it, just take it! That’s the insane message pouring out of leftist lips at City Hall.
Imagine what would happen if these socialist fantasies became law. Stores would turn into a free-for-all, honest business owners would watch their shelves cleaned out, and the rest of us would pay the price with higher costs or shuttered storefronts. Liberals keep telling us that they care about small business and the safety of our streets, but at the same time, they push policies that reward criminal behavior and make victims out of everyday taxpaying Americans.
This isn’t just some fringe idea—it’s part of a disturbing trend. First, it was soft-on-crime district attorneys letting shoplifters walk away with a slap on the wrist. Now, politicians are going a step further, actually encouraging theft if you claim you “need” the items. How long before leftists start excusing every crime under the sun using the tired excuse of “need”—and how many more families and businesses will suffer in the process? Once again, we see that liberal compassion is just a smokescreen for chaos.
What’s next? Are police supposed to stop making arrests altogether? Should companies just budget for being robbed on a daily basis? Or maybe, in the twisted vision of socialist lawmakers, private property rights simply don’t matter anymore. That’s the real endgame of this ideology—punish success, reward lawlessness, and tear down everything that makes America the land of opportunity.
When Democrats start blurring the line between right and wrong, crime pays and honest people lose. Will anyone from the left stand up and say, “Enough is enough?” Or is allowing criminals to run wild their new definition of social justice? The left’s reckless ideas are tearing our cities apart, and it’s time for real Americans to stand up and say: Not on our watch.
