It seems like every time you turn around, another “progressive” Democrat finds themselves caught in a mess of their own making. Now, Rep. Jimmy Gomez, a proud California liberal best known for cozying up to the likes of Eric Swalwell, is under the hot spotlight. The House Ethics Committee is digging into ugly allegations of sexual misconduct against Gomez, but naturally, he’s scrambling to brush it aside, claiming his actions were nothing more than “consensual.” How convenient.
This is the same Democrat party that loves to climb up on their soapbox and lecture the rest of America about “morality” and “respect for women.” Yet, when it’s one of their own in trouble, they rush to do damage control and spin the narrative. Double standards much? Liberals seem to believe the rules only apply to their political enemies.
It’s especially rich coming from a member of the California delegation, where politicians treat Washington like their own private playground. Gomez’s ties with Eric Swalwell—a guy more famous for his own scandals and embarrassments than for any real work for the American people—should raise eyebrows for anyone who still thinks the Democrat establishment cares about ethics.
The Democrat leadership is always quick to preach about “believing all women” and fighting for accountability, right up until it threatens their power. Suddenly, all that talk vanishes. Instead, they hide behind legal jargon and PR statements, hoping the media will sweep it under the rug. The silence from party elites says it all: power comes first, victims come last.
Why should Americans trust a party that can’t even police its own? If this is who the Democrats want representing them, what does that say about their so-called “values?” Maybe it’s time voters hold these hypocrites to the same impossible standard they set for the rest of us.
