The far-left administrators at UC Berkeley thought they could rewrite reality by tossing out standardized tests. They claimed these tests were unfair, racist, or – in their usual coded language – a legacy of privilege. But guess what? Now, chaos has returned to bite them.
For years, conservatives warned what would happen if college admissions became a free-for-all, based only on vague essays and “holistic” metrics. Liberals in charge sneered as if a math SAT somehow holds America back. Now – no surprise! – even their own hand-picked task force says not to make the tests “optional.” When the liberal experts themselves are telling you to pump the brakes, you know something went terribly wrong.
Look at the damage: Dropping these tests hasn’t made things fairer. It’s made things worse. Grades and recommendations are not the same everywhere. Some schools hand out A’s like Halloween candy, while others actually expect students to do the work. So guess who suffers? Bright, hard-working kids from average families – especially those who don’t have the privilege to hire fancy admissions consultants or play identity games.
The left loves to scream “equity,” but somehow they always push policies that hurt the very people they claim to lift up. The so-called “experts” at universities want to stack the deck for their own pet causes, even if it means lowering standards for everyone. Why is Berkeley – supposedly an elite school – running away from real measurement? Maybe because they’re more interested in building a utopian narrative than actually educating the next generation.
Don’t let the excuses fool you. Standards matter. A country that rewards hard work, intelligence, and achievement stays strong. The radical experiment at Berkeley just plain flopped. Liberals promised progress, and all we got is confusion and failure – just like we predicted. When the woke crowd can’t even get their own experts on board, maybe it’s time to ask: Just who are these elites really serving?
