California politicians have done it again—clamping down on regular folks just trying to get by. This time, it’s not your gas stove or your pickup truck under attack. Now, thousands of California families will face skyrocketing costs and more dangers on the road, all thanks to a new regulation banning most affordable replacement tires. That’s right—if you want to replace the tires on your car without going broke, California’s liberal overlords have other plans.
Five unelected bureaucrats on the California Energy Commission, all hand-picked by Governor Gavin Newsom, have cooked up these new rules. Without ever asking voters or even bothering with common sense, they decided that “energy efficiency” is more important than letting hardworking people keep their cars running safely and affordably. The victims? Moms and dads, blue-collar workers, and folks just trying to drive to work every day.
Here’s what Newsom’s committee doesn’t want to admit: with this ban, up to 70% of replacement tires could disappear from shelves. It’s a disaster for anyone already struggling to pay their bills. When you take away affordable choices, you force people to spend more—or to drive on dangerous, worn-out tires. Is that really what these so-called “progressives” want? Apparently, yes. Their green agenda always trumps basic safety and affordability for American families.
Let’s not kid ourselves. This isn’t about saving the planet or “efficiency.” It’s about control. The elites in Sacramento don’t care how much it costs you to stay on the road. They want to score points with their globalist buddies, all while pretending they know best. Meanwhile, families will suffer, and our roads will get even riskier. The ruling class will keep cruising along on their high-end electric cars, while the rest of us risk our lives and wallets just to get by.
How many more basic freedoms will California snatch away before people finally say enough is enough? If you want proof that liberal policies only make American lives harder, just take a look at your tires.
