Progressives in New York City are at it again, pretending they know how to control the future. Now, they want to tell us how to handle artificial intelligence. That’s right. The same city officials who can’t keep the subways safe or the streets clean think they’re ready to rein in one of the most advanced technologies ever invented. If that doesn’t make you laugh, it should make you angry.
These bureaucrats don’t even understand how the average smartphone works, yet they want to regulate AI. And let’s be honest: does anyone really believe City Hall is looking out for everyday New Yorkers? Or is this just another scheme to grab more power, score political points, and line the city budget with new fees and regulations? Meanwhile, real tech innovation is suffocating. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that when politicians get their fingers in the pie, businesses and inventors start running for the exits.
Everyone keeps talking about the dangers of AI, and sure, there are risks that need serious thought. But handing over control to the same politicians who blew COVID policy and let crime spin out of control? That’s not smart—that’s insanity. Under this kind of heavy-handed, liberal government interference, New York will become a place where tech dreams go to die. Globalist bureaucrats love to talk about “safety,” but in reality, they can’t manage the basics, much less advanced technology.
Instead of focusing on cutting-edge progress, City Hall is obsessed with virtue signaling. They’d rather scare people about robot overlords than address real, urgent problems like immigration chaos, out-of-control spending, and families fleeing to freer states. Their policies always end up backfiring. If you over-regulate, real innovators won’t stick around. They’ll move to places where government knows how to back off.
America didn’t become a global leader by letting politicians micromanage every new invention. It happened because people were free to build, create, and compete. The left’s paranoia and incompetence are exactly what could kill this country’s edge. If the so-called experts running New York are the best hope for “saving” us from AI, we’re all in trouble. Maybe it’s time politicians leave the technology to the people who actually know what they’re doing.
