Once again, radical New York City politicians are showing the world exactly how out of touch the far-left has become. Case in point: NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who just marked the third anniversary of Hamas’ barbaric attack on Israel with a statement that boggles the mind and insults the memory of the victims. Instead of standing firm against Hamas, as any decent elected official should, Mamdani tried to play both sides. Sure, he briefly condemned the terrorists and pretended to care about Israelis who were killed or kidnapped. But in the next breath, he pivoted to parroting the anti-Israel playbook—hurling wild accusations about so-called “genocide,” “occupation,” and “apartheid.”
Let’s call this what it is: pandering to the worst elements of the progressive base. While responsible leaders like Gov. Kathy Hochul and Sen. Chuck Schumer have the backbone to clearly call out the Hamas terrorists for their massacre of Jews, Mamdani does the dance that’s become all too familiar for leftists—try to have it both ways. He wants to look like he cares about innocent lives, but he bends over backwards for the activists who screech about Israel every chance they get. This isn’t compassion. It’s political cowardice, plain and simple.
Look around at the circle pressuring Mamdani—far-left activists and internet rabble-rousers like Hasan Piker. They’re leading a growing movement that puts “woke” ideology above truth and decency. The loudest voices don’t mourn Jewish victims of terror. No, they rush to demonize Israel, twist the facts, and distract from the brutal reality of who started the violence—Hamas. It’s the same tired script the left loves to run, always pushing America to abandon its allies and bow before the mob.
The hypocrisy here is stunning. When innocent Israelis are slaughtered, the left gives a shrug and a footnote. But let Israel defend itself or dare to push back against the terrorists, and suddenly the “human rights” crowd finds its voice. Funny how that works. The radical left never misses a chance to take the side of America’s enemies and throw our strongest allies under the bus. Maybe it’s because they’re obsessed with globalist posturing and want everyone to forget what’s really at stake: Western values, freedom, and standing against evil.
Voters deserve leaders who will side with civilization—not with the mobs chanting nonsense about “apartheid.” It’s high time we called this agenda what it is: dangerous, delusional, and deeply anti-American. How many more so-called mistakes do we have to watch before New Yorkers demand real leadership? Or does the left think appeasing terrorists is just another day at city hall?
