Liberals love to throw around the phrase “victim blaming” any time someone has the nerve to suggest that women should take steps to protect themselves. They’d rather shout over common sense than face hard truths. It’s apparently taboo these days to ask women to make smart choices—like being careful about where they go, what they drink, and who they trust—even when it could keep them safe. The woke crowd would rather everyone keep their mouths shut and pretend the world isn’t dangerous.
But here’s what the left refuses to admit: pretending evil doesn’t exist doesn’t make you safe. Real life isn’t a college brochure. Crooks don’t follow society’s rules. So why on earth is it controversial for parents, teachers, or conservatives to give practical, real-world safety advice? Liberals cry “victim blaming” at the mention of basic street smarts. Apparently, they think acknowledging risk means excusing criminals. That logic is upside down.
No one is saying that predators should get a free pass. Conservatives believe in throwing the book at them, unlike some liberal cities that let criminals roam free. But why can’t we talk to females about protecting themselves from those who would do harm? Lock your doors, carry pepper spray, stay alert—these aren’t insults, they’re shields. Yet the left is more interested in utopian fantasies than in facing harsh realities.
This coddling approach is not just naïve—it’s dangerous. Telling women they should live as if nothing bad could ever happen to them leads to more harm, not less. The world can be dark. Evil people exist. Pretending otherwise doesn’t protect anyone. In fact, the only winners are the criminals who prey on blind spots encouraged by progressives.
Liberals need to stop worrying about bruised feelings and start caring about women’s actual safety. Is it really so wrong to want women prepared for what they might face out there? If that’s “victim blaming,” maybe the real blame belongs with leftists who bury their heads in the sand and tell young women to do the same. At what point will they admit that butterflies and hashtags don’t stop crime?
