That’s right. Qingfang Pang, the athlete in question, was detained for overstaying his visa. This is what happens when we let the left turn immigration into a free-for-all.
Democrats love to cry about the “unfairness” of immigration enforcement, but the fact is: rules are rules. If you come to America on a visa, you’re expected to respect our laws like everyone else. If you overstay, you face the consequences. It doesn’t matter if you’re a star athlete or an average student. The law doesn’t bend just because someone can dribble a basketball.
Now, Pang’s attorney is scrambling, pushing for emergency hearings and fast tracks. But when was the last time the average American got this kind of special treatment? Regular folks are stuck in red tape for years, but the moment a so-called “role model” gets caught breaking the rules, the liberal lobbyists fire up their PR machines. What happened to putting the American people first? What happened to our country being a nation of laws, not loopholes?
Liberals and globalists have been erasing our borders for decades. They want a world where citizenship is meaningless and anyone who breaks in gets instant sympathy. The NCAA, college administrators, and too many politicians are all willing to look the other way, as long as their precious teams keep winning. This attitude is poison. It tells young people that fame and skill somehow put you above the law. Is that the lesson we want to teach?
America has always welcomed legal immigrants, especially those who respect our way of life. But if you choose to ignore the rules, don’t expect a free pass just because you’re good at sports. If the left had its way, we’d have open borders, no consequences, and no respect for what it means to be an American. When will they admit that their soft-on-crime, soft-on-sovereignty approach hurts the very core of our nation? Maybe it’s time they grab a rulebook—because in America, the law still matters.
