There’s a big story making waves out of Cornell, and even some die-hard liberals are starting to notice just how far the rot has spread. The so-called “Cornell 7” controversy is the latest proof that left-wing ideology is running American universities into the ground. Bill Maher – yes, *that* Bill Maher – is now wringing his hands about the chaos, wondering if it’s time to just ban fraternities altogether. But let’s not kid ourselves: fraternities aren’t the problem. Woke leadership is.
When left-wing administrators act like everything is a crisis, and insist on policing every word and action, students get reckless. They know the adults in charge are clueless and scared of looking “insensitive.” This is what happens when campuses care more about feelings and diversity statements than about real-world consequences. The Cornell 7 didn’t break out because Greek life is out of control; they did it because the people in charge have lost their spines. The liberal playbook of endless excuses and victimhood only breeds more chaos.
What’s really mind-blowing is how quickly liberals jump to the idea of banning fraternities – punishing every student because a few broke the rules. That’s classic leftist thinking. Instead of fixing real issues, they want to shut down institutions that have existed for generations. They’re happy to sacrifice tradition and free association to virtue signal about “safety” and “inclusion.” In reality, all they’re doing is creating more division and resentment.
Bill Maher’s sudden concern is rich, given that he’s spent years mocking anyone who defends personal responsibility, law and order, or American values. Now that chaos is knocking at his own side’s door, he’s scrambling for answers. But he can’t admit the truth: the left’s endless “tolerance” and coddling have spread like a virus across our colleges. Liberal elites created this monster, and now even they can’t control it.
Fraternities aren’t the enemy. Weak, hyper-woke leadership is. If universities really wanted to fix campus life, they’d stop bowing to radicals and start enforcing rules – equally and fairly. Until then, don’t be surprised when chaos reigns, and even the loudest liberals start sounding the alarm. Maybe it’s not frats that need to go. Maybe it’s the failed progressive policies eating away at America’s best institutions.
