America is watching the country lose its collective mind over two recent stories. And it’s hard not to ask—have we completely abandoned the idea that adults, no matter their gender, should take responsibility for their own choices?
Take the Lindsay Clancy case. Here’s a woman who methodically plotted the murder of her own children, sending her husband on a fool’s errand so she could carry out the unthinkable. Now, some defense lawyer is twisting “postpartum depression” into a get-out-of-jail-free card, arguing that biology made her do it. Are American courts really at the point of excusing evil under the banner of hormones? Are we supposed to swallow the idea that women are powerless over their own thoughts and decisions? Give it time, and she’ll land in a cushy mental facility and then, before anyone blinks, walk right back into society. No sterilization, no real justice. God help us.
Then there’s the raging circus at Cornell. A drunken sorority girl goes club-hopping and winds up in a fraternity house, doing things she “regrets” the next day. Suddenly, “regret” morphs into retroactive assault. Her story keeps shifting, but the media—and leftist politicians like Letitia James—don’t care. Facts mean nothing to these people. The men are instantly condemned, blasted by kangaroo trials in the press, their lives exposed and destroyed. One of them is even black—so now the woke crowd is spinning itself in circles on whether he’s the villain or the victim, thanks to their insane intersectional rules.
The left’s game is always the same. Women are told they have full agency right up until it’s time to face consequences—then suddenly, they are helpless, innocent victims. If their stories change ten times, well, society must keep believing them. No one dares whisper that maybe, just maybe, adults need to own up to risky decisions. Are women so fragile that the rules of adult responsibility can’t apply to them? The left treats them like children, unable to think straight or control themselves—unless, of course, they’re voting Democrat.
Here’s what the country is being asked to accept: Women supposedly deserve every right men do—but none of the accountability. Make a mistake? Blame biology. Misbehave? Blame men. Change your mind? Demand everyone go along or be labeled a bigot. The pampering from progressives is so extreme, we’re nearly at the point where maybe America should slap chaperones on every woman in public—no different from the medieval societies the left claims to despise.
Personal responsibility is dying in this country, trampled by identity politics and leftist excuse-making. The question isn’t whether these scandals are mountains or molehills. The real issue is how long America will keep letting ideologues run the justice system—and how much more common sense we’re willing to throw away just to avoid hurting someone’s feelings.
