Gen Z narcissism is destroying romance and turning America into a nation of lonely loners

Something is deeply wrong with the way Generation Z sees themselves—and it’s turning America upside down. We’ve raised a crop of young people who walk around thinking they’re the center of the universe. They expect gold stars for existing and act shocked when life throws basic challenges their way. Nowhere is this more obvious than in their pathetic approach to romantic relationships.

This isn’t just a phase. It’s a direct result of years of liberal parenting, where everyone gets a trophy and no one ever hears the word “no.” These kids have been told they’re special from the moment they were born. Is it any wonder that when faced with the actual give-and-take of a grown-up relationship, they freak out? They can’t compromise. They refuse to settle for anything less than perfection. And if someone dares to disagree, they bolt.

Liberals love to push “self-love” and “individualism,” but what has it actually gotten us? An entire generation incapable of healthy partnership. When you raise millions of young adults to believe they are unique and deserving above all else, you end up with entitled loners who call it “empowerment” to run away from commitment. The globalists cheer for this atomized society, because a nation of people wedded to themselves is easy to control.

You see it every day: endless swiping on dating apps, searching for that mythical soulmate who checks all the boxes. Real intimacy gets tossed out the window. Instead, we get TikTok confessions about being “too special” for anything ordinary. It’s childish—yet mainstream culture claps like seals. Meanwhile, real American values like family, responsibility, and working through hard times are smeared as “outdated.” That’s not progress; that’s cultural decay.

If Gen Z can’t even handle loving someone else, how will they ever work together to solve actual problems? Maybe it’s time to stop handing out participation trophies and start telling this generation the truth: you’re not that special, and building real relationships takes work. Or are we just going to watch America slide further into loneliness and narcissism while the liberals applaud?
