NYC wants to punish hard working students so woke politicians can feel good about failing schools

New York City’s leaders are doing it again. Instead of fixing the real problems in public schools, they’re coming after students who actually succeed. The City Council is fighting to get rid of entrance exams for the best schools in town. Why? Because white and Asian students out-perform black and Latino kids—and liberals just can’t stand it.

Here’s the truth: Tests don’t care what color you are. Exams measure hard work and ability. But for years, Democrats have whined that these tests are unfair because they don’t magically create “equal” outcomes for every group. So now, rather than raising standards and helping failing schools, they want to punish the kids who study, work hard, and earn their spots. In the name of “equity,” they’d rather drag everyone down to the lowest common denominator.

Remember that so-called education activist, Nikole Hannah-Jones? She sent her own daughter to a public school that spends a whopping $52,000 a year per student. You’d think those kids would be math geniuses and writing prodigies. Instead, her daughter still can’t do basic math or write at grade level. Where’s all that money going? The answer is: nowhere helpful. Left-wing policies spend big but deliver little.

Liberals love to talk about “racism,” but they’re the ones creating it! What could be more racist than telling Asian and white students—many of them from working-class families—that their effort doesn’t matter, just because they’re not the right color for the victim Olympics? The left is so desperate for “diversity” that they’ll bash the American dream and reward mediocrity.

If Democrats really wanted black and Latino students to do better, they’d fix their broken schools. But that takes real work—and it doesn’t win woke brownie points. Instead, they attack success, blame families, and use big words like “equity” to excuse their failures. When did the land of opportunity turn into the land of excuses?
