A biology graduate student, reportedly from China, decided that stealing wasn’t enough. He allegedly tried to poison his colleague while also grabbing sensitive scientific data, all before trying to bolt back to China. It sounds like a bad spy movie, but this is exactly the nightmare scenario that conservatives have been warning about for years.
For too long, liberals and the academic elite have reassured us that opening the doors wide to foreign students, particularly from China, is nothing but a win for “globalism” and “diversity.” Meanwhile, they’ve turned a blind eye to the very real risks. Here’s another case where good-hearted Americans got stabbed in the back—literally and figuratively—all while universities cash fat checks on international tuition.
How many more stories like this do we need before Washington grows a backbone? Our country’s most sensitive research is being infiltrated by people who have zero loyalty to the United States. And if stealing wasn’t enough, this grad student apparently resorted to poisoning a competitor. Forget friendly academic competition—now it’s chemical warfare in the lab? This is insanity.
What’s worse, the student tried to make a run for it, escaping to China like a scene out of a Cold War thriller. Do you think China will hand him right back? That’s a fantasy. The Chinese communist regime loves getting its hands on stolen American intellectual property, and the Biden administration’s “see no evil” crowd will just look the other way. They’ll claim that pointing out the obvious is somehow xenophobic or “problematic.” Funny how the left never gets around to worrying about American victims.
Maybe if the university had focused more on protecting American students and less on virtue signaling, this never would have happened. But as usual, the globalist elite keep rolling out the red carpet for foreign interests—even when it puts American lives and innovation in danger. How much longer are we supposed to live with this dangerous naïveté?
It’s time to stop coddling the world and start protecting our own. Maybe next time, after yet another scandal like this, the left will finally admit: America comes first.
