Former Massachusetts Official Busted for Welfare Scam While Facing Drug and Gun Charges

It’s another bleak day for Massachusetts, and for Americans fed up with left-wing incompetence. Lamar Cook — a former state official, mind you — has been caught red-handed milking the welfare system for over $500 a month. Not only was Cook allegedly trafficking cocaine and facing serious firearm charges, he somehow thought he deserved to get taxpayer money meant for needy families. That’s not just double-dipping. That’s liberal lawlessness at its finest.

While out on pretrial release, Cook decided his next hustle would be scamming the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Remember, this is the same program liberals claim is “protected from fraud” by endless red tape. Yet, here’s a professional political hack raking in hundreds each month with absolute ease — all while the government turns a blind eye. Where’s the accountability when government insiders exploit the very programs they’re supposed to steward?

This isn’t just a story about one crooked bureaucrat. This is what happens when Democrat-run states offer endless handouts with zero oversight. It’s what you get with policies built on comfy slogans and virtue signaling. The system is rigged to reward criminals, not help the honest, hard-working people who actually need it.

Meanwhile, who foots the bill? The American taxpayer. The same hardworking men and women who can barely afford to fill their grocery carts because of inflation, fueled by reckless government giveaways. Yet, the liberals in charge don’t seem fazed by the fact that their own officials are treating welfare like an ATM — even when accused of dangerous crimes.

If this is what passing for leadership in blue states looks like, what hope is there for honest Americans? With public officials turning into welfare cheats and drug kingpins, maybe the real crime is trusting the system at all.
