The Biden administration’s Department of Justice has apparently woken up, finally sending subpoenas to members of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s family. It’s about time. For years, Americans have watched as Omar and her relatives skated by, seemingly above the law, while others got the book thrown at them for far less. Now, the DOJ is looking into her own clan—not just any family, but a crew with roots in the chaos and corruption of Somalia. As if Congress didn’t already have enough drama, now we might see a real-life episode of “Cops” starring liberal royalty.
One of the targets is Omar’s very own sister, who’s been accused of fraud tied to USAID funds. That’s right, the same taxpayer dollars that Democrats love to send overseas to every failed experiment in “nation-building” might have gone right into the pockets of someone related to a sitting House member. This is the kind of Washington swampiness that conservatives have been warning about for years. Maybe the left should spend less time lecturing Americans about racism and more time keeping their own house in order.
Liberals will be quick to spin this as some kind of witch hunt or smear campaign against a “trailblazing” progressive. But no amount of identity politics should give anyone a free pass to break the law. It’s the same story every time: one set of rules for them, another for everyone else. The Democratic machine protects its own, even when it means turning a blind eye to potential corruption right in the heart of our government.
The mainstream media, as usual, is slow to touch stories like this. They’re too busy chasing down “misinformation” on social media or patting each other on the back for bold coverage of the latest anti-Trump TikTok trend. But when it comes to a left-wing darling’s family allegedly involved in international fraud? Crickets. If this were a conservative lawmaker with ties to anything like this, CNN would have a countdown clock for the perp walk.
The American people deserve answers. How much have Omar’s relatives benefited from our generosity? How deep does this Somali pirate saga go? Democratic elitism and globalist arrogance are out in the open, and the DOJ should let the chips fall where they may. If Democrats can’t control their own, maybe it’s time voters stopped trusting them with the country’s future. Would you let these people watch your dog, let alone control billions in aid dollars?
