The Biden State Department finally did something right — and you better believe conservatives will give credit where it’s due. This time, it’s about time they decided to rain economic hellfire down on those who truly deserve it: communist Cuba and the terrorist-loving regime in Iran. The latest sanctions hit a Cuban bank reportedly working hand-in-glove with Iran to sneak around the rules and funnel dirty money. Hitting communists and Islamic terrorists with one solid punch? Now that’s the kind of foreign policy most Americans can get behind.
For too long, the left has bent over backward, making nice with dictators and terrorist sponsors. President Obama rolled out the red carpet for Cuba and handed billions back to Iran. All that did was empower America’s enemies and make the world more dangerous. So you’ll have to excuse us on the right if we actually crack a smile when the U.S. throws down against two of the world’s worst regimes. Cuba props up its corrupt communist system, while Iran bankrolls terror and chaos from the Middle East to Latin America. When the State Department ties them together with new sanctions, it’s not just smart — it’s years overdue.
Here’s reality: Communists and radical Islamists hate America just the same. They only play nice with each other to stay in power and attack anyone who stands for freedom. The idea that a Cuban bank is sneaking money to the mullahs in Iran should set off alarm bells in every American home. If we don’t smack them down, they’ll just keep pushing until there’s nothing left sacred or secure in the world.
Of course, liberals and their globalist buddies will clutch their pearls and whine about “diplomacy” and “engagement.” But pretty speeches don’t stop terrorists, and syrupy State Department emails never broke a communist’s grip on power. Money and pain are the only language they respect. So hats off to Secretary Marco Rubio for doing what should have been done decades ago. Sanctions bite, and the more these thugs squirm, the better off we are.
Maybe, just maybe, the left should stop worrying about the “feelings” of dictators and start caring about American safety for a change. If cracking down on communist bankers who fund terror makes Washington a few enemies, that’s just proof we’re finally hitting the right target. Isn’t it time we stop apologizing for putting America first?
