Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego thinks he’s solving America’s problems by demanding a $20-an-hour federal minimum wage. But anyone with common sense can see this is just another big government boondoggle, cooked up by liberals who’ve never run a business or paid a payroll in their lives. Their so-called “compassion” will wreck local businesses, crush entry-level jobs, and speed up the march of robots taking human jobs at fast-food joints across the country.
Scroll into a McDonald’s these days and what do you see? Fewer people behind the counter and more cold, bright touchscreens taking your order. That’s the future, courtesy of utopian schemes like Gallego’s. By hiking the minimum wage this high, Democrats aren’t handing workers more money—they’re handing them a pink slip. Minimum wage hikes sound nice on activist posters, but try telling that to the young kid hoping for their first paycheck or the single mom working nights to make ends meet.
Of course, the limousine liberals on Capitol Hill shrug off these real-world consequences. They never have to worry about making payroll or seeing their neighborhood diner shut its doors. They’re too busy pandering for votes and cozying up to the globalist agenda that wants America’s Main Street empty and dependent on the government. If the restaurant down the street closes and a giant corporation replaces jobs with machines, that’s just more “progress” in the radical left’s twisted world.
It’s laughable to see politicians like Gallego call this a “living wage” when they’re actually making it near impossible for young workers, part-timers, or folks just starting out to even find jobs at all. Higher wages mean higher costs—and business owners know they can’t just invent money out of thin air. That’s why, every time liberals push these wage hikes, low-income Americans pay the price in lost jobs, reduced hours, and higher prices everywhere from the burger joint to the grocery store.
Why do Democrats keep peddling the same failed ideas? Maybe because they know a growing class of government-dependent, unemployed voters is exactly what keeps them in power. With every fake “helpful” law, they chip away at opportunity and the promise of the American Dream. Maybe it’s time to ask: Is Senator Gallego’s plan really about helping working people, or is it just another step in the left’s campaign to control America’s future?
