Liberal-run Los Angeles is finally reaping what it’s sown. Decades of failed progressive policies have priced regular Americans right out of their own city. Now the rental crisis is so bad that desperate people are being forced into housemate arrangements that would shock their grandparents. Young folks, just starting out, are bunking with retirees who should be enjoying their golden years in peace—just to beat the sky-high cost of keeping a roof over their heads.
This isn’t quirky or “innovative.” This is a symptom of utter dysfunction. The far left loves to talk about “community” and “equity,” but what’s equal or dignified about forcing grandmas to rent out bedrooms just to pay their taxes? Los Angeles was supposed to be the dream destination, the land of opportunity. Instead, thanks to liberal incompetence, it’s become a nightmare where you can’t even afford a broom closet unless you’re sharing it with someone twice your age.
Of course, the globalist crowd doesn’t mind. They’re too busy pushing open borders and climate “solutions” that cripple the middle class. Their own mansions are protected and untouched. Meanwhile, working Americans scramble to make rent in a city that spends billions on “homelessness solutions” but just ends up producing more tents on the sidewalk. All the while, politicians try to spin this roommate crisis as some cute trend, when really it’s a heartbreaking result of their own laziness and greed.
Let’s be real: Americans shouldn’t have to cobble together multi-generational roommates because they can’t afford rent. This is not the American dream—it’s an American embarrassment. The left claims to care about the little guy, but every single one of their so-called “solutions” ends up making life harder for hard-working families. Rent control, housing “mandates,” and endless red tape haven’t created more affordable housing; they’ve driven prices up and options down.
If this is progress, who needs it? Maybe it’s time LA voters start holding these liberal leaders accountable for turning a world-class city into a renter’s circus. Or are they just waiting until we’re all squeezed into one bedroom with ten people, while our elites watch from their hilltop estates?
