New Jersey’s Governor Mikie Sherrill just proved every point conservatives have been making about the modern left. After everything America has endured from violent criminals and radical terrorists, Sherrill found it in her heart to whine about justice for Nidal Hasan. That’s right—the same Hasan who coldly murdered 13 service members and wounded 32 others in the Fort Hood massacre back in 2009. He is a terrorist, plain and simple. But instead of standing with American heroes, Sherrill rushed to defend his so-called “rights.”
This is what passes for leadership in deep blue states. While Gold Star families and veterans still struggle with the pain and trauma inflicted by Hasan’s rampage, politicians like Sherrill shed tears for killers. She isn’t just out of touch with American values—she’s actively working against them. These liberal elites cloak themselves in empty phrases about “compassion” and “fairness,” but only when it serves their globalist agenda. Where was this compassion for the soldiers lying dead on the ground? Where is the fairness for families destroyed by Hasan’s evil?
It’s no surprise. The left turns criminals into victims and treats the real victims like an afterthought. They have all the time in the world for lectures about human rights when the person on trial is a terrorist, but laugh off our country’s pain when law-abiding Americans cry out for justice. It’s upside-down thinking. For this bunch, protecting the feelings of murderers is more important than protecting American lives.
Let’s get real. Hasan was found guilty. He slaughtered innocent people in the name of hate. There should be no question about his fate—and no apology for carrying out the sentence by firing squad. Justice should mean something. But liberals like Sherrill seem to believe the worst criminals deserve endless sympathy, while the victims are told to be quiet and move on. They want to chip away at accountability piece by piece, until America stands for nothing anymore.
How many more times will the left side with terrorists instead of patriots? This isn’t about compassion—it’s about cowardice, plain and simple. Maybe next time, Mikie Sherrill will care half as much about the men and women in uniform as she does about a convicted mass murderer. But don’t hold your breath.
