Alaska’s Senate race just dropped a political bombshell the left didn’t see coming. Out of nowhere, Al Gross—once a so-called “independent” running with every liberal talking point—just threw his support behind Senator Dan Sullivan. Yes, you read that right. Instead of falling in line and backing the Democrats’ golden girl, Mary Peltola, Gross called on his loyal supporters to stand behind not just Sullivan, but even another guy with the same name as the incumbent over any Democrat.
This is a wake-up call for Democrats who keep thinking they have Alaska in their back pocket. For years they’ve paraded around claiming to be the party of the people. Meanwhile, Alaska’s voters—the ones who actually live and work here, not the liberal elites in Washington—are sick of being ignored, lectured to, and treated like political toddlers. Now, even liberals hiding under the “independent” label are jumping ship.
Ranked-choice voting was supposed to be the Democrats’ secret weapon. Remember when they cheered it on, convinced it would crush conservative values and silence common-sense Alaskans? Turns out, that rigged game is backfiring. Their own pet candidates are realizing the Democratic Party is so far left, it can’t even keep its own coalition together. Gross can’t fake independence anymore—he just proved Democrats are in shambles, even among supposed allies.
This isn’t just about Alaska. What we’re seeing is the cracks spreading across the whole Democratic strategy. Globalist interests, anti-American priorities, and an obsession with identity politics have left the liberal base splintered and desperate. Even self-styled progressives like Al Gross can’t stomach another four years of the left’s incompetence and hypocrisy—so they’re fleeing in droves.
Voters see through the charade. Alaskans know who really fights for their jobs, their families, and their freedoms—it’s not Mary Peltola and her big-city backers. If Democrats can’t keep their own side from defecting, what hope do they have of winning over the Great Land? Maybe the real question isn’t whether the left can fix their mess, but when sensible Americans will finish what’s already started.
