Europe’s spineless leaders handed Putin victory while America pays the price

Europe’s Pathetic Surrender Gave Putin Everything He Wanted

The arrogance of Western elites never fails to amaze. On Sunday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent showed up for a big TV interview to talk about gas prices, Ukraine, and—of course—how Democrats are “handling” Russia. But let’s get one thing straight: the failures aren’t American, they’re European. Liberal leaders across Europe rolled out the red carpet for Vladimir Putin, and the world is now paying the price.

For years, European bigwigs claimed they were tough on dictators. In reality, they made themselves weak by begging Russia for cheap energy. It’s embarrassing, watching them scramble now that Putin is off the leash. Brussels bureaucrats love to lecture America on “values,” but when it came down to it, their cozy deals and green fantasies lined Putin’s pockets—and sold out Ukraine.

Now, with war raging, America is dragged back into another international mess created by left-wing incompetence overseas. Biden’s team is wagging fingers at the last administration, but don’t forget: it’s liberals, not conservatives, who sold out Western strength in the name of global “unity.” American energy independence made us strong—until socialists at home and abroad tried to shut down our oil and gas. Didn’t take long for Russia to notice that weak spot.

So instead of solving the problem, Europe’s cowardly leaders just handed Putin leverage over the entire continent. He doesn’t just threaten Ukraine—he holds Europe’s energy by the throat. That’s what happens when Western elites care more about climate conferences and virtue signaling than protecting their own people.

Maybe next time, Europe’s so-called leaders should worry less about shaming Americans, and more about standing up to real bullies. Or is surrender just easier than standing tall? America should never follow their pathetic example.
