Once again, Michigan Democrats prove that they know how to waste your tax dollars. This time, it’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer and her high-flying delegation dropping more than $200,000 on a trip to Asia. That’s not a typo. Two hundred thousand dollars just for politicians and their sidekicks to jet-set around the globe under the excuse of “economic development.”
Regular Michiganders are struggling to afford groceries, gas, and rent while Whitmer’s team racks up luxury travel bills overseas. Oh, but don’t worry—they say it’s all “supported” by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and some so-called independent nonprofit. Translation? It’s still your money funding their globalist adventures. The liberal elites never have to pinch pennies, but they ask you to do more with less.
If Governor Whitmer had any real interest in creating jobs at home, maybe she’d spend less time sipping sake in Asia and more time fixing the roads and helping Main Street businesses. Instead, she and her circle are more concerned with impressing foreign investors and cozying up to global corporations than looking out for the families who pay their salaries.
It’s the same old liberal story: do as they say, not as they do. While they hand out lectures on climate change and holding corporations accountable, they’re happy to pump hundreds of thousands into overpriced plane tickets and hotel rooms. When it comes to their own perks and comforts, suddenly there’s always money to burn.
This is the arrogance you get from career politicians who don’t care about the consequences. Will Whitmer’s trip bring back any real results for working Michiganders? Or was it just an expensive vacation at our expense? Hardworking taxpayers deserve answers and accountability—not more empty promises from the limousine liberal crowd.
