Once again, the liberal elites are circling the wagons to protect one of their own. This time, former President Obama has stepped up to defend Rep. Ilhan Omar after federal agents raided her home in Minnesota. The raid was part of an investigation into immigration fraud—a serious accusation for anyone, let alone a sitting member of Congress. But for the Democrats, accountability always takes a back seat to partisan loyalty.
It’s almost predictable at this point. Whenever a left-wing favorite faces tough questions or the long arm of the law, the so-called “champions of justice” do everything they can to spin the story, cry racism, or blame conservatives. Obama wasted no time jumping in to shield Omar. Does he really believe the rules shouldn’t apply to his political allies? Or is this just about protecting the Democrats’ cherished narrative, even if it means sweeping potential crimes under the rug?
For too long, figures like Ilhan Omar have been given a free pass by the D.C. establishment. Every controversy, every investigation, gets painted as an attack from the “far right.” Meanwhile, regular Americans are expected to follow every law, pay every tax, and accept open borders with a smile. When real questions are asked about Omar’s past or potential fraud, liberals would rather demonize the investigators than demand the truth.
This is about more than just one politician. It’s the left’s entire playbook—defend your inner circle at all costs, regardless of what the facts may reveal. Obama’s rush to defend Omar is a perfect example of how Democrats talk about justice, but never want it applied to their own team, especially when it conflicts with their globalist agenda or their obsession with identity politics.
Americans are tired of the double standards. If Omar did nothing wrong, let the investigation play out like it would for anyone else. But if there’s fire where there’s smoke, the left will have to answer: When did “equality under the law” get replaced with “protection for the privileged liberal class”? Maybe the real question we all should ask is, who else in Washington is getting away with it?
