Washington once again showed Americans how broken the establishment really is. Congress—gotta love their endless showboating—overwhelmingly passed a law to smack Russia with tough new sanctions. It was supposed to be Congress finally doing something strong, something to “punish” Putin and his pals for their war on Ukraine. The Senate passed it with a huge victory lap. The elites cheered themselves on. They finally thought they could trap President Trump into playing their little globalist game.
But Trump isn’t that easy to corner. As always, he cut through the nonsense. When the deadlines for these so-called “major penalties” loomed, Trump didn’t just rubber-stamp what Congress gave him. He used his executive powers to protect American interests—something Biden would never have the guts or brains to do. Trump found the part of the law that lets him waive sections he knows aren’t good for America. He did just that. Congress’ big anti-Russia “victory” turned out to be a paper tiger.
Let’s be real: These sanctions were never about saving Ukraine. They were about virtue signaling for the D.C. elite. Liberal lawmakers wanted to parade around as righteous warriors, all while ignoring the economic pain their schemes inflict on real Americans. Sanctions don’t just “punish” Russia—they squeeze hardworking families here at home with higher prices and global instability. It looks great on cable news, but ordinary citizens always pay the price for these kinds of beltway games.
Here’s what the left doesn’t want you to know: Trump wasn’t bowing to Russia. He was defending you. He saw through the empty posturing and took action to shield Americans from the consequences of a bunch of feckless policy wonks chasing headlines. While his critics clutch their pearls and scream about “democracy” and “accountability,” their own policies show nothing but disrespect for the people who actually make this nation work.
At the end of the day, America needs a leader who puts us first—not some spineless politician obsessed with their image on the world stage. Thankfully, Trump had the backbone to say no when the so-called experts tried to force his hand. Maybe Congress should stop with the political theater and start doing something that actually helps Americans for a change. Or is that just too much to ask in Washington, D.C.?
