Once again, so-called “leaders” in Harrisburg are letting criminals run the show. The Pennsylvania House just pushed a bill limiting police use of license plate readers, the same high-tech tools officers use to catch real bad guys. Conservatives, including Rep. Timothy Bonner, tried to warn everyone – these cameras help solve crimes and can even cut crime by up to 20%. But liberals? They hand-wrung about “privacy” and government overreach, like the city streets should be playgrounds for thieves and carjackers.
The left dreams up new roadblocks for cops every chance they get. They slap red tape on a technology that’s proven to get results, and then act shocked when crime keeps eating away at our neighborhoods. It’s like they forget whose side they’re supposed to be on. How many lives have been saved and criminals caught because of these cameras? Liberals don’t care – they’d rather tie the hands of law enforcement than admit conservatives might have a point.
Let’s not kid ourselves. When license plate readers are reined in, you know who celebrates? The thugs, traffickers, and gangsters. Everyday Americans want their families safe on the road, but politicians in safe-district ivory towers chase “civil liberties” awards from globalist left-wing think tanks. The safety of hardworking Pennsylvanians gets thrown under the bus so liberals can score virtue points at cocktail parties.
Bonner, a former prosecutor, actually knows how crime works. He wanted to keep smart rules but not turn cameras off altogether. But leftists always want to go too far. They won’t rest until every cop is blindfolded and criminals have free rein. How is that “progress”? It’s anti-police, anti-safety, and anti-common sense. When neighborhoods start suffering and families start losing sleep, remember exactly who took away one of our best crime-fighting tools.
Liberals love to talk about “data” and “science” until it gets in the way of their utopian fantasies. The data shows: license plate readers stop crime. But some Democrats would rather gamble with your safety to soothe their own guilt. When will voters get fed up with these backwards priorities and demand real leadership? Maybe when the crime comes to their street, they’ll finally wake up.
