The Trump administration just blinked on student loan reforms, and all it took was a single judge to throw a wrench in the works. Earlier this year, a federal judge stood in the way of new restrictions that would have made it harder for people to walk away from their loans—restrictions meant to bring some common sense back to the out-of-control student debt system. Now, the Justice Department has turned and run, dropping its appeal without even telling us why.
Is anyone really shocked? The left has been screaming for years that every college dropout should get a free pass on their debt. Why? Because the Democrats need to buy votes and coddle their precious activist base. The legal system, stacked with activist judges, is more than happy to help them tear up contracts and stick hardworking taxpayers with the bill.
It’s a textbook example of how liberals refuse to take responsibility for their own messes. They want college to be “free,” but that’s just code for making people who didn’t go to college—truckers, plumbers, nurses—pay for someone else’s bad financial choices. When conservative leaders stand up to this nonsense, unelected judges leap in to protect the Democrat gravy train.
The plan blocked by the judge wasn’t extreme—it just asked for a little personal accountability. When you borrow money, you pay it back. That’s how America is supposed to work. But this new era of handouts and excuses, pushed by socialist-minded bureaucrats, is turning the greatest country on earth into a playground for freeloaders.
The swamp wins again, giving the radical left another bone to chew on. Will there ever be a day when judges defend the taxpayers instead of pandering to entitled elites and globalist special interests? Maybe if more Americans stood up to this madness, we wouldn’t be stuck footing the bill for another generation’s empty promises.
