The New York City Council has decided it knows better than the rest of us. Once again, these liberal politicians are coming for hardworking Americans, this time banning the iconic horse carriages in Central Park. They didn’t care about the drivers, their families, or centuries of tradition. They didn’t care that most New Yorkers and tourists love the carriages. No, the Council saw another chance to pander to radical activists and line up behind their globalist friends who want to erase every trace of real American culture.
Union leaders have spoken out, but their voices don’t matter to the council. The so-called champions of the working class are turning their backs on actual workers. These carriage drivers have been proud providers for their families for generations. Now the Council is tossing them aside, robbing them of their jobs and dignity. If a Republican did this, every liberal activist would be in the streets, screaming about worker rights. But since it’s their side, suddenly it’s okay.
And let’s be honest—this ban isn’t about safety. It’s about power. The Council points to the tragic death of an Indian tourist who jumped from a runaway carriage. It was a terrible accident, absolutely. But you don’t outlaw an entire industry over one freak event. If that logic made sense, we’d have to ban subways, bicycles, and buildings with elevators. It’s clear this is just another excuse to crack down on something traditional, beloved, and unique to New York.
The so-called leaders pushing this ban claim it’s for the “greater good.” That’s always their excuse when they want to tighten their grip. Meanwhile, they trample the Constitution and ignore due process. It’s rich to see the same liberals who pretend to care about rights and justice suddenly turning to raw power grabs when it suits their agenda. The anti-American bias is clear—crush tradition, silence opposition, and throw working families to the wolves.
If New York can destroy one of its most cherished, historic industries with the stroke of a pen, who’s safe next? The left wants to wipe out anything and everything that reminds us of a better, prouder country. Will Americans keep letting these politicians erase our culture one piece at a time—or is it finally time to say, enough?
